This week we listen for the words of the Oracle. Alot of things are CALLED oracles; such as tarot or other methods of divination. But the ancient Greeks meant something very specific when they used the word, Oracle. For the Greeks an "oracle" was a human - usually a priestess - through whom a diety, such as Apollo, answered specific questions that have been put forth. Also, the Oracle was the sacred place where this would happen. So we'll talk in more detail about just what an Oracle is. Then, since most of what we understand about Oracles originated with the ancient Greeks; we'll spend some time with Oracles in Ancient Greek culture - specifically The Pythia. And, also I want to talk about an ancient Greek structure that was unearthed as recently as 1958, which may have once served as An Oracle of the Dead. And finally, we'll take a look at Oracles of the New World, and Modern Times I hope you enjoy this week's show!
